Detours to Nowhere with Morgan Rae

Sometimes, we encounter a detour in our planned journey. Sometimes, it takes us on a path to nowhere. Sometimes nowhere is EXACTLY where we need to be. I invite you to come along with me, on a Detour to Nowhere...

Detours to Nowhere

"After all, Detours to Nowhere can take you to some of the most unexpectedly, BEAUTIFUL places..."

When I was growing up, my older cousin Nichole and I liked to believe that we, as the oldest two cousins of four, were far more mature than my younger brother, Derrick, and cousin, Katie. Also, we believed our conversations would be too far over their heads since we were so much older (and cooler, of course). One day, as one of these conversations was taking place, Katie loudly interrupted us with her opinions on the matter. Nichole rolled her eyes and said "Oh here we go on a detour to nowhere". Katie basically called us jerks and promptly left.

Over the years, we found her presence far less annoying and "Detours to Nowhere" became a term of endearment. Our family grew, as families do, but we would still just all squish in around Meema's kitchen table or onto her screened-in porch and solve the world's problems or end up laughing until we cried at Katie's stories.

We lost Katie, unexpectedly, in 2010. I miss so, so many things about her beautiful soul. But mostly, I miss our Detours to Nowhere for they always took us to the most beautiful places.

I am starting this blog as a way to challenge myself. I'm tired of feeling caged in a world as vast as this great earth!! I'm ready to be free and nostalgic and happy and sad and All. The. Things. I'm ready to be ALIVE, in the moment, without a care in the world, surrounded by people I love, the way I always felt at Meema's table.

I am officially inviting you to come along with me. I pray this blog touches you in some way, makes you laugh, inspires you, or maybe just gives you a little break from day to day troubles. After all, Detours to Nowhere can take you to some of the most unexpectedly, BEAUTIFUL places...

Safe Travels!

Wonderful idea. As we get older we start to do things and forget our purpose along the way. Usually it was something that caught our attention and sent us on a trip to no where
